A former monastery, built in 1371, Charterhouse now houses Almshouses (occupied by “The Brothers”), gardens and a chapel, and our November Outing is a tour of this beautiful old building. Next door there is an excellent café, Thackeray’s, which serves paninis, sandwiches, soups, cakes, savouries, coffees & teas prepared on site.
