Group details

*COVID: To brighten up lockdown, fortnightly “Virtual Travel Trips” will be sent to all members with email.  The Group’s Travel plans have been suspended during the Covid 19 crisis but, hopefully, with the availability of a vaccine, we shall be able to resume trips in the late Spring, early Summer 2021.

Activity: We normally arrange 2 or 3 trips a year within Europe and the UK (but obviously our plans for 2020 have been affected by the Covid situation *).

Our aim: is to enable Members to go on holiday with others who like travelling and, although primarily designed for enjoyment, we try to ensure that our tours are interesting & informative so that Members can learn about the culture & history of the areas which they are visiting.

Bookings: bookings will be taken by email at: (in chronological order.) Forthcoming trips are advertised on the Travel Group area of the website, where flyers and brochures with details of our holiday offers can be found

Single occupancy rooms: command a supplement but, despite this, sell out very quickly. Please consider sharing a twin room with a U3A friend or relative (a) to save paying the supplement and (b) give you a better chance of availability. Sharers must be U3A members, but not necessarily from the Mill Hill branch.

2020 postponed trips. Those which had been scheduled for 2020 have now been re-booked for 2021. See the brochures for itineraries and prices but please substitute the dates shown directly below.

Dublin & the Enchanting South West of Irelanda wonderful 7- night trip, by air and coach. 25 June – 3 May 2021.

“Oberammergau, Lake Garda, Venice and Verona” by air and coach, in early Summer 2022. Dates to be confirmed.

Once the dates for the above have been confirmed they will appear in the normal list below.

Further Information About The Travel Group

We book through a recognised Tour Company, and, in liaison with them, choose a venue, request what we would like to see and where we would like to visit in the area, and then get a brochure printed. Single rooms are always in great demand and we really do strive to get the best allocation we can.

Before booking any Mill Hill U3A Travel trip please read the following:
Mill Hill U3A does not accept any responsibility for your fitness to undertake the trip, itinerary or journey.
By committing to a trip, you are declaring that you are in reasonable health and fit to travel, that you can mount and alight from the coach unaided, and that you are fully aware of the itinerary. You are responsible for your own health and safety throughout the tour.

The Group Leader is just an ordinary member who has volunteered to help, not a paid tour guide, and, like yourselves, is paying the full cost of the trip. Please be aware that it is their holiday too, so do not expect them to spend all their time looking after you. Obviously, in emergency they will do their best to help.

Also Note
Please be clear that Members are required to have adequate travel insurance when travelling with the MHU3A Travel Group and to provide proof of it when requested.

Travel insurance is not included in the cost of any Mill Hill U3A Travel trips. Some of the tour companies offer insurance, but it is a member’s own decision as to whether they purchase this or make their own insurance arrangements.

Coach drivers are no longer permitted to assist passengers alighting from the coach or to carry passengers’ luggage, other than loading it in and out of the hold of the coach. It is therefore passengers’ responsibility to carry their own travelling-bags and to check that the driver loads them from the pavement into the coach. If a hotel offers porterage this will be stated clearly in the brochure.

Within reason we can request special dietary needs.

Deposits for the holidays can be paid by cheque, credit card or debit card (not cash) in Room 3, before the Monthly Meetings, or you can print out the booking form from the website, fill it in, scan it and email it to:

Your Travel Group Volunteer Team consists of Liz Driscoll, Liz Allden, Antoinette Azzopardi, Marilyn Jackson, Danny Jackson, Jennifer Morris and Simeone Salik.
