Welcome to the group! Our aim is to enjoy our photography and have fun learning how to take more photos we are happier with! Our members include beginners through to experts, using all types of cameras from smartphones to compacts and DSLRs. New members welcome: please email the group leader to join.
We meet on the second Monday of every month, 2-4.30pm, but this year we will vary between meeting on zoom OR meeting up to take photos together somewhere locally or in London.
The zoom meetings may have a talk given by a member of the group on a specific aspect of photography e.g. Composition, lighting, timing, portraiture, street, wildlife, editing etc., followed by a zoom discussion of photos submitted by the members that they have taken in the preceding months.
When we meet up to take photos together as a “photo-shoot”, the venue is chosen by the members and is a great opportunity to have fun with our photography and learn from each other and get to know more about our camera’s features and settings. We usually have a refreshment break in a cafe to chat, compare notes, catch up and review our photos together. From April we will do photoshoots on Thursday mornings
As well as coming to the photoshoots, members are encouraged to take photos in their own time, perhaps using the last talk / theme or of whatever catches their eye!
Members can then submit their best images to share and discuss at the next zoom meeting. All discussion is friendly and supportive, along the lines of: “if you had the opportunity to take it again, what could you do to make the image better / more impactful”. ie it is not a competition!
Members will be notified via email of the monthly meeting date, topics and any photoshoot outings that month. The zoom meetings are recorded and the link to the video is sent to members so they can watch at leisure if they were unable to make the meeting.
With the photographer’s permission, some of the images taken on the photoshoot topics are put in the Gallery on this website (see below). To get the full picture just click on the image.
