Group details

Current photoshoot topic: “A theme”  (of your choice!)

Future meetings:  Mon May 9th: Gerry Temple will give us  talk on how to put your photos into a powerpoint presentation.  We will then look at photos taken by the group on a theme of their choice.

Welcome to the group! Our aim is to enjoy our photography and have fun learning how to take more photos we are happier with! Our members include beginners through to experts, using all types of cameras from smartphones to compacts and DSLRs. New members welcome: email the group leader.

Currently we meet by zoom, on the second Monday of every month.  A member of the group (and on occasions a special external speaker) will lead a session on a specific aspect or topic of photography e.g. Composition, lighting, timing, portraiture, street, wildlife, editing etc.  Members also choose a topic that the group are encouraged to take photos on in their own time as a “photoshoot”.  At each meeting we show images our members have sent in from the previous ‘photo-shoot’ topic that they would like to share and discuss. More experienced members of the group are often able to help and give advice to members who are having problems with their camera or want to know more about their features and settings.

We also meet up informally during the month outdoors in small groups to take photos together as a  “photo-shoot” and learn from each other. If folk wish, they gather afterwards for refreshments in an cafe to chat, compare notes, catch up and review their photos together.

Places visited previously include Aldenham Park, Stanmore Park, Finchley Nurseries, Darlands, Rickmansworth aquadrome, Cassiobury Park, Hackney Wick, Kenwood House, Waterloo Station and Westminster Bridge. We often have a theme for the outing and an experienced member to advise on aspects of photography.
