Group details

We meet at Hartley Hall once a month, when a member of the group will lead a session on a specific aspect or topic of photography e.g. technical, composition, lighting, flash photography, etc. Members are encouraged to take photos on this aspect or topic in their own time. At each meeting we show the best of our photos from the previous ‘photo-shoot’ outing (see below), where they will be displayed on a large screen for discussion. More experienced members of the group are often able to help and give advice to members who are having problems with their camera or want to know more about their features and settings. The format of the sessions is subject to change depending on what members want from the group. However, it is a practical group and not a social get-together to view holiday photos. There is a small fee of £3 per session to cover the cost of hiring the hall.

Also, once a month we have ‘photo-shoot’ outings, usually in the mornings – 10.30 to 1.00 pm – though a few have been in the evening. Places visited so far include Darlands, Hackney Wick, Kenwood House, Waterloo Station and Westminster Bridge. We often have a theme for the outing and an experienced member to advise on aspects of photography. We break into small groups or individually but then get together over refreshments to look at our photos. At home we choose the best of our photos and bring these to the next meeting at Hartley Hall to show to the group on the large screen.

From these photos we choose some to go in the Gallery on this website (see below). These are ones which have been taken recently by members of the group. To get the full picture just click on the image.
