According to the USA National Office, and due to the outstanding dedication, hard work and professionalism of your Executive Committee, Mill Hill has been the most successful startup of any U3A.
My goal for the next year is to build on our success while bringing in new people so the future Executive Committee can ensure that success continues for years to come.
I was a Financial Planning Consultant for 20 years helping clients, and their families safeguard their income, allow for mishaps, plan their futures and prepare for retirement. During the last few years, before I sold my practice, I was invited to hold monthly workshops at the Royal Free in Hampstead, advising Consultants, Surgeons, Nurses, Admin staff and cleaners on how to-plan for a happy and rewarding retirement. Workshops included: the emotional impact of retirement; life after retirement; death of a loved one and maintaining the relationship with your children and grandchildren in a global world. I did a lot more than that, but let's not get bogged down with unnecessary detail!!

In the summer of 2015 I was contacted to find out if I were interested in helping to set up a new U3A in the Mill Hill area as it had been very successful in Barnet and other local areas. I became one of the Publicity Committee who successfully advertised the proposed setting up of the Mill Hill U3A.
At the Inaugural Meeting I then volunteered to be on the Steering Committee for the first year and was elected onto the current Executive Committee. I have been a very conscientious, capable and efficient committee member.
I believe I have the qualities to be a good Chairman, a role which I have held in other local organisations. I am a good communicator, easy to talk to, a good listener, I treat people equally and am open to discussion. I successfully acted as Acting Chair at one of our committee meetings when our current chairman was unable to attend. I have a good relationship with other EC members who I hope would support me if I were to be elected. I would like to take on the challenge of being Chairman of Mill Hill U3A, to be a Trustee of the Charity, and to promote the U3A in the community.
